Introduction courses are offered over 3 days (9-4pm/18 hours) or 6 evenings (5pm-8pm/18hours). A progression from the taster session or for those who know which process and skill set they would like to develop.

Course participants 15+ (School year 11)

Course Details:

• A 60-minute knowledge session covering the basic principles of TIG welding and weld geometry and terminology.
• Workshop induction
• Setup of welding machine and related equipment
• 3/5mm Carbon steel 
  • Course outcome 1: PAD
  • Course outcome 2: single run tee fillet in the PA position
  • Course outcome 2: single run tee fillet in the PB position
  • Course outcome 4:Single run lap joint in the PB position
  • Course outcome 5: Single run open corner in the PA position

• In-house certificate awarded upon successful completion of the program
• Progression onto the introduction to MAG or MMA welding course or intermediate TIG welding course

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and flame retardant overalls will be provided.  Each participate must provide their own steel toe cap footwear.
